Christopher Micallef completed his Architectural degree from the University of Malta in 1999.
Christopher founded Forward Architects together with Michael Pace back in 2011. Amongst some of the prominent projects he headed are the museum fit out at Fort St Elmo, the 6,000sqm office fit out for Betsson’s Headquarters in Malta , the office fit out for Casumo and the X House, an upmarket single residential unit in Ibragg.
Christopher has led all of Forward’s submissions for significant competitions with key international collaborators. These include MUZA – The Malta Fine Arts Museum, MUBA – the Fine Arts Museum in Gran Canaria Spain, as well as a kindergarten in Heerbrugg, Switzerland.
In 2008, Christopher assisted the Malta Chamber of Architects (KtP) Standing Committee for the Built Environment on the design of two important publications: ‘The Urban Challenge; Our Quality of Life and the Built Environment’, a position paper on the Built Environment, and ‘Modernist Malta; The Architectural Legacy’, a record of the Modern Movement in Malta. In 2021, Christopher was appointed Chair of the Architecture Committee for the Malta Chamber of Architects (KtP).
Christopher led Forward’s satellite collaborative office in Barcelona in 2014. This was responsible for the studio’s research and development outlook towards architectural and urban regeneration projects.
Christopher is currently leading the rehabilitation of the Malta Maritime Museum. He is also leading the Gozo Museum project on behalf of NIDUM, the office founded by him together with Michael Pace, Joanna Spiteri Staines and Alberto Miceli Farrugia.
