The design for the Casumo premises started with a single floor of circa 500sqm. The design facilitates more focused and agile ways of working with project based working pods of not more than 16 persons. The team members can sit in back-to-back rows, with generous space in-between, facilitating quick internal meetings and screen sharing. A breakout corridor upon entry is highlighted by a natural oak ceiling installation as an extension to the strict grid layout. Meeting rooms, bathrooms and service areas were positioned furthest away from the natural light, maintaining a rectangular, rationalised open plan area.
Each working cluster is outlined by a low-level wall, lined internally with sound absorbing material, demarcating the limits of each team and giving some sense of enclosure in the open plan space. Acoustic panels overhead, a carpeted raised floor, and sound absorbing storage units all contribute towards this.
The uppermost levels house the auditorium and entertainment space. A large portion of the existing floor slab was removed, establishing a necessary connection between the two levels. The tiered seating doubles up as additional storage for the demountable tables, when not in use. The entire fit out was designed closely with the client, ensuring every detail matched their unique outlook and brand identity. A seamless acoustic soffit and carpeted raised floor all contribute to the acoustic quality of the space.
