db house was originally built in the early 1970s. With the introduction of the extension at first floor, the original modernist is fused in a clear architectural expression.

Inside all is transformed and sculpted into a multilayered progression of volumes. The house is intriguing as the birch plywood climbs along the stepped family theatre staircase leading the circulation onto the kitchen level above.

The dialogue between clarity of materials and volumes is evident throughout the house. As the roof unfolds itself upwards, the textures of concrete, steel, glass and birch plywood are married within this defining architectural interior gesture.

With the back to the kitchen wall, the seaview re-unfolds below along with a panoramic horizon of the islands beyond forming a backdrop to the living room above.
